We publish analysis and opinion from trade economists, policy experts, diplomats, and journalists who have something original to say about global trade and international affairs.
1,500–3,000 words. In-depth examination of a trade policy, trade agreement, or bilateral relationship. Requires primary sources.
800–1,200 words. A clear argument, backed by evidence. We do not publish opinion that could appear in any publication.
2,000–4,000 words. Reported pieces from the field. We welcome pitches from correspondents in our coverage countries.
500–1,000 words. Trade data-driven pieces with clear visualisations. Must use publicly available official statistics.
All submissions are reviewed by our editorial team. We assess originality, factual accuracy, sourcing quality, and relevance to our readership. We do not publish press releases, promotional content, or pieces that have appeared elsewhere. Articles must not contain undisclosed conflicts of interest — contributors are required to declare any funding, employment, or advisory relationships relevant to their submission.
We edit for clarity and brevity. We do not change arguments. Fact-checking is the contributor's responsibility; our editors will flag concerns before publication.
Send a pitch of 150–200 words to editorial@thediplomatdaily.com with the subject line: PITCH — [Your Title]. Your pitch should tell us: what the article argues, why it matters now, and why you are qualified to write it.
We respond to all pitches within five working days. If you have not heard from us in that time, your pitch has not been accepted. We do not accept simultaneous submissions.
